Sonic Spotlight: Scott Corliss

AGE: 44

HOMETOWNS: Portland, Ore., Lawrenceville, Ga. and Baltimore; moved to Augusta in 1999.

OCCUPATION: IT Support, Fort Gordon

PLAYS: Pearl Maple MLX drum set with Zildjian and Paiste cymbals

FIRST SHOW: Central Gwinnett High School Band Banquet in 1977 or 1978 with friends. "We were trying to play Queen songs through a stereo system. It was terrible, but parents love that stuff."

PLAYED WITH: thd., 1985-88; xs4eyes, 1988-95; Vellotones, 2000 to present; Livingroom Legends, 2002 to present.

FIRST CONCERT: "The first concert I remember was my mom taking me to see Louis Armstrong outside in Portland when I was a teeny one. I have no idea how old I was, but I would guess about 5 or 6. My first big rock concert was Queen and Thin Lizzy at The Omni in Atlanta in 1976 or 1977."

PERSONAL BEST: "All of the 12 Bands of Christmas shows I've played over the last few years with the Vellotones and the Livingroom Legends. The atmosphere, the crowd, the venue and the musicians were wonderful at each of those shows."

WORST SHOW: St. Patrick's Day 2005 with Livingroom Legends at the Eighth Street bulkhead before a handful of people. "I was sick with a fever and it was brutally cold."

CONCERT LINEUP OF A LIFETIME: "This changes constantly, but if you had to pin me down, I'd say Elvis Costello and The Attractions, Bob Dylan, R.E.M., any band Dennis Chambers is playing with and, of course, James Brown."

DREAM PROP OR STAGE EFFECT: "I'd have a giant classic flying saucer drop down from above the stage. As it comes down through lots of smoke, lights and lasers, the dome slides open to reveal the drummer, who does a double crack into the first song."
