WHY DIDN'T THAT JetBlue Airbus burn off its fuel by flying to New York to make its beautiful emergency landing? The passengers would have reached their destination, and all that fuel would have been saved.
I HAVE A SUGGESTION for the name of the proposed Columbia County/Evans government. How about "Hoity Toity Towne"? It sure seems appropriate.
THANK YOU FOR THE positive article on gays/lesbians in Augusta. It is nice to see that the gay community has gained some visibility.
MORE THAN 80 PERCENT of the $1.5 billion in contracts signed by FEMA were awarded without bidding or with limited competition. Is this how we want our tax dollars spent?
I GUARANTEE THAT the voters of Bill Clinton were happier with the results of his administration than the voters of George Bush's administration.
MY RANT IS FOR the majority of the drivers in the CSRA. Monday night my son was taking his date home. He came across a wrecked car on Brown Road upside down in a ditch. The occupant was a young man who probably hadn't had his license that long. The car was totaled. The driver survived. People, slow down. Quit riding bumpers. Save fuel, but most importantly save lives.
I HAVE A RAVE for the Augusta Ballet Company. I attended the performance of Dracula. It was beautiful and delightful. As the artistic director of the ballet Zanne Beaufort Colton said, "The arts will prevail through tyranny, hurricane and war. It must."
I WOULD LIKE TO RAVE about the article by Kate Lewis written about Melanie Jewitt, a patient at MCG who grew up to be a nurse. Wasn't a week after it (was printed), and I'm still hearing positive comments about it, how people are so glad to read something of that nature in the paper. It gives people encouragement.
THIS IS A RANT to the person who loves cigarettes. I won't shut up. ... If you want to smell like a stinking smokestack, go ahead; but don't subject me and everyone else to it. Maybe one day someone will invent a smoking suit, so y'all can zip yourselves up, get the full benefits of your cigs and the rest of us won't have to pay more taxes when you get cancer and have a long stay in the hospital. ... Smoke away, dear heart.
