COLUMBIA, S.C. - South Carolina has named Ken Griffin, a former scouting director at a recruiting service, assistant women's basketball coach, the university said Tuesday.
Ken Griffin was director for Southeast Roundball Journal and director of basketball operations for Garden City Roundball Inc. where he was responsible for counseling and mentoring area students.
South Carolina coach Susan Walvius said Griffin was personable and had relationships with the region's top high school players and coaches.
"He has recruited some of the top talent in the southeastern region to compete on his teams and attend his camps. I am sure he can do the same at USC," Walvius said.
Griffin is a 1994 graduate of Voorhees College.
South Carolina finished 8-21 this past season, going just 2-12 in the Southeastern Conference.
The Gamecocks open the season against High Point on Nov. 18.
