NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Mr. Paul L. Williams, 76, of Maplewood Drive, entered into rest September 27, 2005 at Aiken Regional Medical Center. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Mr. Williams, a native of Edgefield County, attended Bettis Academy Junior College and Benedict College. He received his Bachelor of Art and Master's of Art degree from Hofstra University, Long Island, NY. He retired from the Roosevelt Board of Education where he taught at The Ulysses Byas Elementary School for 25 years. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of Doric Lodge #53 and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He was a former member of South Hempstead Baptist Church where he served as president of the usher's ministry and a trustee. He was a member of Old Macedonia Baptist Church where he sang on the senior choir and male chorus. Survivors include is wife, Viola Jennings Williams; two daughters, Deborah Elaine Williams, Alexandria, VA and Beverly Ann Hall, Atlanta, GA; three sisters, Lucy Ashley, Trenton, SC, Anna Bell White, Philadelphia and Ophelia Thomas, Batesburg, SC; two brothers, Louis Williams, Washington, D.C. and Henry (Pearl) Williams, North Augusta; a grandson, Markel Hall; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Williams, Maryland, Mary Jennings and Ora Bell Jennings, Graniteville, SC; two brothers-in-law, Willie (Unie) Jennings, Hephzibah, GA and Albert (Jean) Jennings, Graniteville, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
