TODAY: The Sierra Club will sponsor a trip to Heggie's Rock at 1:30 p.m. Botanist Judy Gordon will lead a two-mile hike to a famous granite outcrop owned by The Nature Conservancy. Limited to 15. Call 650-8314 to reserve a place.

TODAY: Augusta-Aiken Audubon Society will hold a birding trip to Mistletoe State Park. Meet at the office area just inside the gate at 9 a.m. to observe warblers, tanagers, and other migrants, along with arriving winter birds. Call (706) 793-2788 for more details.

TODAY: Fishing with Ralph Barbee airs at 2 p.m., also on UPN. Another local outdoor program, Outdoor Destinations with Craig Johnson, airs at 1:30 p.m. on UPN.

TODAY: The 35th Military Police Detachment will sponsor a bass tournament at Butler Reservoir beginning at 7 a.m. Fort Gordon fishing permit requirements are waived for the tourney. Entry fee is $20. Proceeds support the MP Ball. Call 791-5033 for details.

TODAY: Pinetucky Gun Club will hold a PPC pistol shoot open to everyone with a center fire pistol. Cost is $4 for club members or $12 for nonmembers.

OCT. 1-2: The Columbia County Bicycle Tour will be held with 10, 20, 45 and 65-mile loops on Saturday and other routes on Sunday. Register online at www.active.com or call 706-836-8821.
