AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Gene A. Reed, of Shilo Court, entered into rest Wednesday, September 21, 2005 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at New Zion Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Edward Bluford officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Olive Memorial Garden with full military honors. Mr. Reed, a native of Chipley, Fla., was retired from the U.S. Army as Sergeant First Class after 23 years of service. He was a member of New Zion Hill Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife, Priscilla Reed; two sons, Shuan Reed, Chipley, Fla., Gwuan (Dr. Selena) Reed, Tallahassee, Fla.; stepdaughter, Kimberly Murray-Floyd, Augusta; mother, Sarah L. Reed, Chipley, Fla.; four sisters, Anethia (Robert) Bell, Jacksonville, Fla., Daragh (Tony) Reed-Gray, Campbellton, Fla., Tawana (Ricky) Bowers, Greenville, Fla., Marilyn (Rayfield) Collins, Chipley, Fla.; one brother, Ellis (Jane) Reed, Chipley, Fla.; four grandchildren, Quintarious and Matthias Reed, Chipley, Fla., Anyanna Floyd, Augusta, Sarah L. Reed, Tallahassee, Fla.; nieces, nephews and other relatives. The remains will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.
