Area announcements

-The 17th Annual Industry Appreciation Golf Classic, sponsored by Aiken Electric Cooperative, Inc., will be held Monday at Woodside Plantation. Registration will begin at 11:30 a.m. with a luncheon and putting competition. The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. A cocktail and awards reception will follow the tournament will be held after the tournament. For more information, call (803) 641-1111.

-The second annual Guardian Cup will be held Sept. 30 at Jones Creek. Format will be a traditional Lauderdale. Tournament fee will be $70 per person, and includes green fees, cart rental, range balls, beverages, awards dinner and prize money. Proceeds will benefit Augusta Safe Homes. -The Augusta Prep Golf Classic will be Oct. 3 at West Lake Country Club in Martinez, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Cost is $400 per four-man team, including lunch and golf shirt. For more information, call Siobhan Carlile at (706) 863-1906 ext. 214 by Sept. 26.

-The Waynesboro Country Club will host at 27-hole, 4-Man Scramble Oct. 9, beginning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Cost is $220 per team and includes 27 holes and lunch. The field is limited to the first 24 teams. For more information, call (706) 554-2262.

-The 12th annual Bert Yancey Memorial Golf Tournament will be held Oct. 10 at the River Golf Club in North Augusta. The tournament will be four-man lauderdale format, and proceeds will benefit the Mental Health Association of Greater Augusta, and local affiliates of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill and the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance. -The Fore Everyone adaptive free golf clinics are held the second Tuesday of every month from 10 a.m. until noon at First Tee of Augusta. The clinic is designed to work on swing, stance and grip while putting, chipping, and driving for golfers with disabilities. For more information, call Judie Thompson at (706) 823-8691.
