American Bass Anglers

Next: Saturday, Mistletoe State Park. Oct. 23, Amity Recreation Area. Nov. 12, Savannah River, Port Wentworth. Nov. 26, site and ramp to be determined. National championship, Red River, Shreveport, La., Oct. 2-8, for those making the point cutoff. Billed as the largest tournament trail for weekend anglers, it's open to men, women and youths (with parental consent) 16 years of age and older. No boat is required, but if you enter as a boater, you will be guaranteed its use even if there are no non-boaters in the field. Entry fee is $55 for one-day tournaments. Payment at the ramp will result in a $5 penalty unless you are signing up as a new member, renewing membership or are a life member. No guides or professional bass anglers are allowed. Next: Saturday, Kids' Fishing Derby, 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Claypits II and III.. Oct. 23, bass tournament, daylight until 2 p.m. Nov. 13, bass tournament, daylight until 2 p.m. December: No tournaments scheduled.

Tournaments will be limited to the first 20 boats and are open to all ID cardholders and the public with a Fort Gordon fishing license guest permit. Entry fee is $10 per Fort Gordon Sportsman Club member, $20 per non-member, with an optional $5 big fish pot, with a guaranteed $100 for first place and $50 for second place. Registration is with the club prior to the tournament or 30 minutes before the event's start. State licenses and Fort Gordon fishing permits required.
