Writer recalls events differently



Regarding Liam McGinley's letter ("Writer's facts don't match reality," Sept. 3): First of all, George Bush was not "given the election." He won it.

As to the Rwandan massacre, the people running this country at the time could not even determine if the word "genocide" could be applied to the situation going on in Rwanda. The U.S. government and the United Nations stood by and did nothing for 100 days.

Also, I do believe the United States went after Osama bin Laden. He could have been had before 9-11, if the people running this country had mustered the courage and foresight to take him when offered by other countries.
