Coach threatened by player's father

In Parsippany, N.J., a high school football game was postponed after a parent threatened one of the coaches for benching his son.

Robert Stanel was charged with making terroristic threats toward Parsippany coach Gerry Moore. Stanel's son, Joe, was benched for being five minutes late that morning.

The threat was made in Moore's office, just before the Parsippany team was to make the bus trip to West Caldwell for Saturday's game against West Essex Regional.

According to police, Stanel threatened to kill Moore. Stanel denied that, but told The Sunday Star-Ledger of Newark he told Moore he would "come looking for him later."

"I work construction," the 44-year-old Stanel told the newspaper. "This is just the way we talk. It's a wake-up call."

There was no physical contact between the men, police said.
