Earth-friendly engine important to council

BLUFFTON - The city's police boat should be environmentally friendly, the Town Council has decided.

Council members last week rejected a recommendation to buy a new two-stroke engine. They agreed a four-stroke motor is more expensive but decided the environmental message is worth the cost.

Two-stroke engines will be outlawed by the Environmental Protection Agency in 2006.
