Katrina blame game is sad and shameful

Sadly, even in times of national tragedy, those on the left cannot avoid using hateful political and racial rhetoric. Why they have to inject these things and this venom for President Bush into an atmosphere of death, carnage and suffering is an unconscionable failure of character, and shows their total lack of humanity.

They have committed unforgivable transgressions - from blaming the hurricane itself on the president for not signing the phony global-warming Kyoto Accords, to accusations that the administration was slow in responding to the disaster because they hate black people. This is all beyond the pale and uncalled for, and is absolutely slanderous!

There are some fair questions to be asked of the mayor of New Orleans and governor of Louisiana. Why did they not follow the emergency plans that were in place, and implement them in a timely manner? Why were hundreds of school buses, which should have been used to evacuate people beforehand, left sitting idle? Why did not the governor declare martial law, and activate the Louisiana National Guard immediately or in advance? It seems to me these would have been prudent actions to take.

One possible and very logical explanation would be that, since they expected the federal government to step in and provide assistance, they wanted to conserve their own monetary resources and let the federals pay for all these things. They are loud and abusive in their rhetoric, but they will be seen as culpable in their failure to act for the benefit of the victims of this disaster.

As of now, they are deflecting attention onto the federal government and President Bush to hide their own shortcomings, but they cannot hide. There will be congressional hearings, during which their role and lack of timely response will be exposed. Watch the Democrats try to protect them.
