Fishing Tournaments

Entry fee $20 per fisherman with $5 optional big fish pot. Tournament hours 7 a.m. until noon. Fort Gordon fishing permits will not be required for this event. Individual Bass Tournament

Sept. 24, Wildwood Park

Billed as a warmup for the annual Mr. Clark Hill tournament the first Saturday in October, the tourney's entry fee is $40 per fisherman, with an optional $10 big fish pot. Guaranteed first place prize is $2,000. More information: Gene Hair, 726-1526.

David Brown, 9.01 pounds. David White, 7.99 pounds. John Hammett, 707 pounds. Big fish: Hammett, 5.56 pounds. Twenty-seven bass weighing 45.34 pounds were caught and most were released alive.

American Bass Anglers

Next: Sept. 24, Mistletoe State Park. Oct. 23, Amity Recreation Area. Nov. 12, Savannah River, Port Wentworth. Nov. 26, site and ramp to be determined. National championship, Red River, Shreveport, La., Oct. 2-8, for those making the point cutoff. Billed as the largest tournament trail for weekend anglers, it's open to men, women and youths (with parental consent) 16 years of age and older.

Entry fee is $55 for one-day tournaments. Payment at the ramp will result in a $5 penalty unless you are signing up as a new member, renewing membership or are a life member. Tournaments will be limited to the first 20 boats and are open to all ID cardholders and the public with a Fort Gordon fishing license guest permit. Entry fee is $10 per Fort Gordon Sportsman Club member, $20 per non-member, with an optional $5 big fish pot, with a guaranteed $100 for first place and $50 for second place.

Registration is with the club prior to the tournament or 30 minutes before the event's start.
