Freeman injured in freak accident
Former Evans football and baseball star Brad Freeman is scheduled to be released from MCG today despite having part of his skull fractured when a rake hit him in the head Saturday, said Freeman's father, Darrell Freeman.
Darrell Freeman said his son, a freshman on the baseball team at Middle Georgia College, was driving a cart performing routine field maintenance work on the baseball diamond. A rake, which was in the back of the cart, hit a gate as Freeman entered the field, swung to the front of the cart and, according to Freeman's father, penetrated about three centimeters through Freeman's skull.
Brad Freeman, who was awake and complained only of a headache Tuesday night, said doctors are still unsure whether he will have any permanent damage from the accident.

Heat's Shaq helps police in an arrest
In Miami Beach, Fla., Shaquille O'Neal provided an assist to police over the weekend, trailing a man who allegedly assaulted a gay couple before alerting an arresting officer.
The 7-foot-1 Miami Heat center, who is in the process of becoming a Miami Beach reserve officer, was driving on South Beach at about 3 a.m. Sunday. He saw a passenger in a car yell anti-gay slurs at the couple, who were walking, said Bobby Hernandez, a spokesman for the Miami Beach Police Department.
The man then got out of the car and threw a bottle, hitting one of the pedestrians. The man got back in the car, which sped off. O'Neal followed, flagging down an officer who made an arrest.
