Young, Spartans get late win Saturday
Ricky Young's third touchdown of the night - a 34-yard scoring reception from Michael Evans - lifted Glenn Hills to a 35-34 victory over Liberty County on Saturday night.
Young also had a pair of first-quarter touchdown runs for Glenn Hills (3-1). Evans also threw a touchdown to Terrell Callaway, while Jamal Harris's first-quarter kickoff return also went for a touchdown for the Spartans.
- Veuncle Ivey's 80-yard touchdown run to open the second half gave Warren County a lead, but Spalding rallied for a 15-14 victory Friday night.
Tommy Seals led the Screaming Devils (2-1) with 82 yards rushing and 51 yards passing.

Whitfield runs mark to 10-0 with victory
In Tunica, Miss., Augusta's Ray Whitfield knocked out Carlos Zambrano in the second round to win his scheduled eight-round bantamweight fight Saturday evening at Fitzgerald's Tunica.
It's the second knockout of Whitfield's young pro career, to go with four TKOs and four unanimous decisions.

Canadians win first exhibition match
In Aiken, Canadian team Millarville rolled to an 11-2 victory over local favorites Detroit Blues in the Aiken Community Cup tournament, a warm-up for the United States Polo Association Gold Cup to be played over the next month.
Canada's highest rated player Frederic Mannix, dominated the match, scoring seven goals, and was named Most Valuable Player.
Volleyball
Pacers earn split at Chatham Classic
In Savannah, Ga., USC Aiken concluded the 2005 AASU/Chatham Othopaedics Classic with a two game split.
The Pacers (4-4) defeated Florida Tech 3-1 (30-23, 30-25, 26-30 and 30-23) and then fell to Eckerd 3-2 (30-23, 30-22, 27-30, 28-30 and 16-14) .
Mandy Gerolstein had 12 kills, and Amanda Timm added 10 kills in the first match.
The split gave USC Aiken a 2-2 record in the tournament.
Auto Racing
Wheldon sets mark with sixth victory
In Joliet, Ill., Dan Wheldon set an Indy car record with his sixth victory this season and all but clinched his first IRL championship, beating Helio Castroneves and Sam Hornish Jr. in a tight finish to win the PEAK Antifreeze Indy 300 on Sunday at Chicagoland Speedway.
Wheldon beat Castroneves by about a hood's length, with Hornish taking third place.
Wheldon will win the points title simply by taking to the track at Watkins Glen in two weeks. With Sunday's victory, he broke a tie with Hornish for wins in a season.
Danica Patrick, starting from the pole, was sixth - the seventh top-10 finish of her rookie season.
The Roscoe, Ill., native lost the lead to Tomas Scheckter on the second lap and never got it back despite a push late in the race.
- In Spa-Francorchamps, Bel-gium, Fernando Alonso moved closer to becoming Formula One's youngest world champion with a conservative and calculated ride at the Belgian Grand Prix in which he finished runner-up to Kimi Raikkonen.
Raikkonen overtook McLaren Mercedes teammate Juan Pablo Montoya in the final stages to win this race for the second straight year for his sixth victory this season.
Alonso needs to finish in the top three of any of the three remaining races to clinch the title. The Renault driver's next chance comes at the Brazilian Grand Prix in two weeks.
