Sept. 11 memorial

Dr. Joyce F. Johnson, a professor of music and college organist at Spelman College in Atlanta, will present a concert at 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 2321 Lumpkin Road.
Coping with life
The Rev. Lonnie W. Smith Jr., of Knoxville, Tenn., a pastor, teacher and counselor, will lead a workshop on facing life's challenges Friday through Sunday, Sept. 18, at Central Church of Christ, 3650 Old Petersburg Road in Martinez. Dr. Smith, a licensed professional counselor, will speak on anger, frustration and substance abuse at 7 p.m. Friday; anxiety, fear and guilt at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17; building self-esteem at 9 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 18; and the solution to man's problems at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 18. Help the hungry
The annual spaghetti supper to benefit the Columbia County Cares food pantry will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Marvin United Methodist Church, 4400 Wheeler Road in Martinez. Plates are $5, with a $20 maximum for a family of four or more. Desserts are extra. The food pantry is an ecumenical ministry supported by businesses, churches and individuals. Call 541-2834.
Pregnancy help
A three-day training to assist women who have unplanned pregnancies will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday-Saturday, Sept. 23 and 24 at Dayspring Church, 4220 Frontage Road.
