Georgia's Rowsey is lost for the season
Georgia forward Rebecca Rowsey will miss the season after tearing up her right knee in a workout.
The 6-foot-3 Rowsey, who started all 34 games for the Lady Bulldogs last season, tore the anterior cruciate ligament last week and underwent surgery Tuesday.
She will redshirt this season.
"What's most disappointing ... is that Rebecca probably outworked everybody on our basketball team this summer," coach Andy Landers said. "It's a cruel injustice."
Rowsey averaged 4.1 points and 5.0 rebounds.

Georgia Tech won't have top recruit
Anthony Barnes, one of the most prized football recruits in Georgia Tech's 2005 class, will wait until January to enroll in school and will miss this football season.
Barnes, a linebacker, reported to preseason camp in August but suffered a knee injury in the opening days of practice. Meanwhile, officials at the NCAA clearinghouse, which certifies the initial eligibility of all college-bound student-athletes, raised questions about a class he took in high school.
The combination of the injury and the class discrepancy prompted Barnes to leave campus before the start of classes and return home to Cartersville, Ga. Had he started school this semester, he would have had to take this season as his redshirt year.
By waiting until January to enroll, Barnes maintains his five-season eligibility window. He will have until the end of the 2010 season to play his four years.

Los Angeles to bid for the 2016 Games
Los Angeles will try for its third Summer Olympics.
Organizers announced Wednesday that the city will bid for the 2016 Olympics, pledging to hold the Games at no cost to taxpayers.
The 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles were the first to turn a profit, heavily involving corporate sponsorships in the Games. Los Angeles also played host to the 1932 Olympics, the only U.S. city to hold the Summer Games twice.
