Your Sept. 1 editorial, "Looting: Is it survival?," has served to denigrate people involved in an increasingly desperate situation.
None of us can possibly understand the stresses these folks are under just to survive. I challenge the writer to spend an Augusta summer day outside without water to determine how strong he can be. Include in that your child or grandchild, and a feeling of desperation that no one cares.
Yes, there are some who are taking things that they cannot use; these folks are present in every community. The vast majority are those who have tried to do what the system has requested and are waiting in long lines for assistance. This should not be happening in a country with our resources.
