SEPT. 20: The Sierra Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church on Walton Way Extension. Following an ice cream social, Dr. Ed Cashin will present a program, "What Bartram didn't write in his Journal," a commentary on William Bartram's travels and the upcoming Bartram Trail Conference annual meeting in Augusta, Oct. 21-23. The public is invited.

SEPT. 24: The Sierra Club will sponsor a trip to Heggie's Rock at 1:30 p.m. Botanist Judy Gordon will lead a two-mile hike to a famous granite outcrop owned by The Nature Conservancy. Limited to 15. Call 650-8314 to reserve a place.
SEPT. 25: The 35th Military Police Detachment will sponsor a bass tournament at Butler Reservoir, beginning at 7 a.m. Fort Gordon fishing permit requirements are waived for the tournament only. Entry fee is $20. Proceeds will support the group's MP Ball in October. Call 791-5033 for more details.
