Player dedicates opener to hurricane victims

ATLANTA - Georgia Tech defensive end Eric Henderson, a senior from New Orleans, said he and his teammates will dedicate Saturday night's game at Auburn to victims of Hurricane Katrina.

"I'm going to go out this week and play for the whole New Orleans," Henderson said after Wednesday's practice. "Everyone able to watch the game and clear their minds I'm pretty sure will be rooting us on. We're going to play our hearts out for them."

Henderson said two of his aunts left the New Orleans area but most of his family did not leave.

Meanwhile, coach Chan Gailey said that linebacker KaMichael Hall, a 2004 starter, will play but won't start in Saturday night's game at Auburn.

Hall's status for the game had been in doubt as he addressed undisclosed non-football issues. Hall started eight games last season and was second on the team with 4.5 sacks. He will play as a backup behind Gary Guyton.

"He's got a smile on his face, a little jump in his step," Gailey said of Hall. "... He'll play a lot."
