ATLANTA - Braves third baseman Chipper Jones left the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Washington Nationals because of a stomach virus.
Jones, who had a sacrifice fly in the first inning, was replaced after grounding out to end the third. He was replaced by Marcus Giles, normally Atlanta's starting second baseman.
Giles, who wasn't in the lineup for the nightcap, played third for the first time since Sept. 29, 2002, against the New York Mets.
Wilson Betemit has filled in often at third during Jones' injury plagued season. But Betemit started both games of the doubleheader at shortstop in place of Rafael Furcal, who was bothered by a sore knee.
