Jones Jr. urged to undergo testing
In Mexico City, the president of the World Boxing Council said that boxer Roy Jones Jr. should undergo intensive neurological testing before his Oct. 1 fight with Antonio Tarver.
The Mexico City-based boxing organization said in a news release that it was "deeply concerned" about the fight because Jones was knocked out in his last two fights.
"We believe that (Jones) should have a solid economic position to live comfortably for the rest of his life, and he shouldn't let - for any reason - his pride as a great champion push him to risk his health or his life," WBC president Jose Sulaiman said in the statement.
Sulaiman urged Jones to get medical approval to participate in the fight.
Tarver knocked out Jones in the second round in May 2004 to keep the WBC title. The two are scheduled to fight again Oct. 1 in Tampa, Fla.

Six charged in sale of phony wristbands
In Albany, N.Y., six people have pleaded guilty to charges connected to the sale of thousands of phony LiveStrong wristbands and have turned over almost $112,000 to the Lance Armstrong Foundation, New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer's office said.
In March, undercover investigators bought 1,000 of the counterfeit wristbands from a Manhattan storefront, authorities said.
Investigators said they found 81,000 more there and at a home in Queens. Authorities said importer Eastlink International Inc. distributed the wristbands to retailers around New York City.
The authentic wristbands sell for $1 each and help fund the foundation based in Austin, Texas, that provides services to cancer patients. The Armstrong foundation was started by the seven-time Tour de France winner after he defeated testicular cancer.
About 55 million real LiveStrong wristbands have been sold since the spring of 2004.

Maryland guard arrested after fight
In College Park, Md., Maryland guard Chris McCray was arrested on charges of refusing to leave the scene of a fight and trying to flee when police went to handcuff him.
He was arrested early Sunday and charged with disturbing the peace, resisting arrest and escaping custody. About 15 people were involved in the mayhem downtown.
McCray refused to leave after several warnings from police, Prince George's County police spokeswoman Diane Richardson said. One officer had to step between McCray and a man he was fighting, she said. When police tried to handcuff McCray, he allegedly broke free and tried to flee.
McCray, who will be a senior this year, averaged 14.1 points and 3.2 assists last year season.
