Here are the facts about war in Iraq

Americans are becoming more and more opposed to the war in Iraq for many reasons. No matter what one's views are, here are a few indisputable facts:

- There was no justification for George W. Bush's invasion of Iraq since Saddam Hussein possessed no weapons of mass destruction and was not developing a nuclear weapons program.

- Nearly 1,900 brave American servicemen and women have died and more than 14,000 have been wounded or maimed in Iraq.

- The greatest threat Saddam posed was against neighboring nations, including Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, Kuwait and Israel - yet not a single one of those countries have sent their loved ones to fight and die in Iraq.

- Americans are being ripped off with skyrocketing gasoline prices while the oil corporations are making record profits, and the Middle Eastern countries are draining our financial resources and plunging us into deeper and deeper national and personal debt.

- The price of gasoline in the United States is greater than $2.50 per gallon, yet in those countries that our soldiers are dying to protect, their gasoline prices are: Iraq, 5 cents a gallon; Saudi Arabia, 91 cents; and Kuwait, 78 cents.

- Bush struts around the country saying our soldiers are dying in Iraq for a "just cause," yet he doesn't care enough to meet one-on-one with Cindy Sheehan, whose precious son died in Iraq.

I warned people during the 2004 presidential campaign what they were going to get if they voted for Bush and, sadly, we are all suffering the consequences.
