Small kids may like it; older brothers and sisters will find it sappy; parents may wonder if Herbie is really self-aware, and what the philosophical implications might be. HOUSE OF WAX (R) Loose remake of the 1953 horror classic. Paris Hilton and Elisha Cuthbert are college students at the mercy of weird brothers. Ends today at Augusta Village

MADAGASCAR (HH, PG) Four animals are stars at the Central Park Zoo: Alex the Lion (voice by Ben Stiller), Marty the Zebra (Chris Rock), Melman the Giraffe (David Schwimmer) and Gloria the Hippo (Jada Pinkett Smith). Alex dines on steaks and loves singing New York, New York. Marty dreams of escape. One of his attempts leads to all four being returned to the wild, and in Madagascar they meet not only a kingdom of lemurs (voices by Sacha Baron Cohen and Cedric the Entertainer), but the problem of food. Alex is a meat-eater, and Marty is - well, meat. Begins Friday at Masters, Augusta Village
