NEWNAN, Ga. - Alice Clarke Ryan Dryer, age 61, succumbed to a short battle with cancer on August 19, 2005. Alice was born to Robert Joseph Ryan and Alice Stammberger Ryan in Maplewood, N.J. She is survived by her husband, Dennis David Dryer, after 12 years of marriage. Alice was a 1964 graduate of Rider University in Trenton, N.J. where she earned a degree in business marketing. After graduation, she took a job with the Bechtel group of companies. After a 37 year career with Bechtel, she and her husband, Dennis, had relocated to Newnan in September 2000 to work on the Atlanta Hartsfield Airport Capital Expansion Program. Alice's career as an engineer took her to numerous heavy construction projects throughout the United States. She was fortunate enough to live and work in San Francisco, Calif., Long Beach, Calif., Augusta, Knoxville, Tenn., and Philadelphia before retiring in Newnan. In retirement, Alice served as President of the Mosby Woods Homeowner's Association in East Coweta County. Alice was preceded in death by her parents. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Kelly Burbage Baldwin, and son-in-law, Charlie Baldwin, of Augusta; her stepson, Christopher David Dryer of Newnan; her brother, John Francis Ryan, and her sister-in-law, Sharon Wong Ryan, both of Sacramento, Calif.; along with dearly loved friends and relatives. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, August 24, 2005 at 11:30 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3131 Walton Way, Augusta. McKoon Funeral Home, Newnan, in charge of arrangements.
