Museum exhibit

Grand Illusions, a traveling exhibit about faux painting, will be on display at the Aiken County Historical Museum, 433 Newberry St., through Sept. 25. The exhibit can be seen during museum hours, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 2-5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. The exhibit is free. For more information, call 642-2015.

School seminar

Aiken County's Help Line will hold an informational seminar for sixth-graders and their parents at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at H. Odell Weeks Activity Center, 1700 Whiskey Road. The seminar will help pupils prepare for middle school and learn what resources are available. For more information, call 641-4143.

Bike rally

A bike rally and poker run will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the El Bab Shrine Club, 571 Patterson Mill Road, Barnwell, S.C. Proceeds from the event will benefit Shriners hospitals. Tickets are $10 for the night dance and includes food, two drink tickets and door prizes. The cost for poker hands is $20 and includes a ticket to the dance. For more information, call 793-7308.

Teen training

Aiken County's Help Line will hold teen training from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday and from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Help Line office on Park Avenue. The training is for teens 13 to 19 interested in volunteering with the organization. Training familiarizes volunteers with the resources available for troubled teens. Players needed

Cub Scout Pack 78, chartered to Belvedere United Methodist Church, will be holding sign-ups from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at Belvedere Elementary School, 201 Rhomboid Place, as part of the Boy Scouts Race into Scouting program. Workshop, recital

A Cleon W. Mauldin Workshop and Recital will be held at the University of South Carolina Aiken's Etherredge Center on Thursday, Sept. 1. Michael Williams will present a drumming workshop from 1:45 to 3 p.m. in Room 125. The recital will be at 7:30 p.m. in the O'Connell Theater. The workshop is free, the recital is $8. Call 641-3305.

Yard sale

The Aiken County Recreation Center, U.S. Highway 1, Graniteville, will hold a yard sale beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10. Vendor spaces are available for $5. For more information, call 663-6142.

The University of South Carolina Aiken's Masterworks Chorale is seeking members for the 2005-06 season. To schedule an audition, call Sandra Field at 641-3306.

The chorale's Christmas concert, A Festival of Lessons and Carols, is scheduled for Dec. 11.
