AUGUSTA, Ga. - Harold V. Dekle, age 80, entered into rest at St. Joseph Hospital, Thursday, August 18, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joanne Johnson Dekle; two sons, Larry V. Dekle of North Augusta, S.C., Stephen I. Dekle of Augusta; two daughters, Carol Dekle Mulherin and her husband, Frank, of Martinez, and Lynn Dekle Mann and her husband, Neal, of Middleburg, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Suzy M. Dekle of Evans; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and a brother, Victor I. Dekle and sister-in-law, Joyce, of Cedartown. Mr. Dekle was a native of Moultrie having made Augusta his home since 1952. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946, and then entered South Georgia College. After moving to Augusta, he began his Insurance career as an Independent Agent and established the Insurance Center in 1960 and served as its President until 1987. He served as President of the Augusta Board of Independent Agents and later served as Director on the State Board of Insurance Agents of Georgia. He was a charter member of the Exchange Club of Summerville-Augusta and later served as President. He was a lifelong Baptist and moved his membership to First Baptist Church of Augusta in 1952. He served as Secretary of the Crusaders Sunday School Class and was a member of the Sanctuary Choir. Family, friends, church, fishing, and being with his family and friends at the lake house are the things he cherished most. Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 20, 2005 at The First Baptist Church of Augusta with Dr. Rodger Murchison officiating. The Crusaders Sunday School Class are requested to serve as honorary escort. The family will greet friends at the church rotunda immediately following the services. Private inurnment services will be in Westover Memorial Park at a later date.
