TOUCHDOWN: High school football season gets under way with these Georgia games: Glenn Hills at Josey, Westside at Richmond Academy, Jefferson County at Cross Creek and Harlem at Evans. In South Carolina: South Aiken takes on West Florence at home, while Midland Valley plays host to Allendale-Fairfax. Games begin at 7:30 p.m. Call the schools for ticket prices.

IN THEATERS: See Cillian Murphy and Rachel McAdams board a flight of terror in Red Eye. The storyline has Mr. Murphy plotting to kill the director of homeland security when he meets Ms. McAdams on an ill-fated flight to Miami. Also out is: the R-rated comedy The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Valiant, the computer-animated tale of WWII-era carrier pigeons and the little bird that joins them. Voices for the film include those of Ewan McGregor and Ben Kingsley.

GO BOWLING: Get free bowling, a hot dog and a soft drink when you go to Youth Appreciation Day at the AMF Masters Lanes, 1810 Gordon Highway. The event is for ages 6-18 and is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call 733-3624.

AUDITION: The Actors Center is holding open auditions as they search to build a team to take to an upcoming talent convention.
