Georgia's Milton moves to fullback

ATHENS, Ga. - Georgia senior Tony Milton, who has started four games in his career at tailback, now is a full-time fullback and could win a starting job at his new position, coach Mark Richt announced Monday.

"Tony has worked at fullback throughout camp," Richt said. "I told Tony the other day that I wouldn't have any problem starting him there if he won the job."

Milton rushed for 314 yards with one start for Georgia's 2002 Southeastern Conference championship team and opened the 2003 season as the starter before a leg injury ended his season. He played in three games last season, scoring a touchdown against Kentucky.

Richt also announced that junior Olaolu Sanni-Osomo of LaGrange has moved from safety to outside linebacker.

"With Olaolu, it has a lot to do with his body type," Richt said. "He's just naturally a big, thick, strong guy. He loves contact so I think he'll be fine."

Georgia had two practices Monday, a morning session in full pads and a longer practice in the afternoon in shoulder pads and shorts.

Due to the overbearing heat, Richt shortened the morning practice.

"We cut about 40 minutes off the practice, but we did go full pads and got a little live work in - not a lot, but a little," Richt said. "Even though we cut it down, it was still very, very tough on these guys, and they struggled mightily this morning. I'm glad we did what we did. We got a lot of work done this afternoon."

Georgia, which opens its season on Sept. 3 against Boise State, is scheduled for one practice Tuesday before its final two-a-day schedule on Wednesday.
