Outdoors calendar



NOTE: All the listed events are open to the public, although membership in some organizations might be required.

TODAY: Outdoor Destinations with Craig Johnson, a local outdoor program, airs at 1:30 p.m. on UPN channels. Another local outdoor show, Fishing with Ralph Barbee, airs at 2 p.m., also on UPN.

FRIDAY-AUG. 21: Georgia Wildlife Federation will hold its annual Perry Buckarama at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry, Ga., with wildlife and conservation exhibits. Record whitetails will be on display and seminars are scheduled each day. The site is off Interstate 75 at Exit 135. Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for seniors and kids 6-12, with under-6 kids free. Call 770-787-7887.

SATURDAY: Pinetucky Sporting Complex will host an NRA Women on Target program from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ladies 16 and over are invited to learn about shooting sports and firearms. Call 592-4230 for details or email Carol Rosenquist at rosenquist@alltel.net.

SATURDAY-AUG. 21: Pinetucky Sports Complex will hold a two-day Club Skeet League event with 100 targets in any of the four gauges. Shooting begins at 2 p.m. each day. Call 592-4230 for details.

AUG. 25: The Ridge Branch, S.C., chapter of the Quality Deer Management Association will hold its first banquet at 6 p.m. at Ridge Spring Civic Center, 900 W. Main St., Ridge Spring, S.C., with exhibits, door prizes and deer management information. Call 803-275-4144 for details.

AUG. 28: A PPC PIstol Shoot for center-fire handguns will be held at Pinetucky Sporting complex. The public is welcome. Cost is $4 for members, $12 for non-members. Call 592-4230 for more details.

SEPT. 1: The Augusta Chapter of Quail Unlimited will hold it's annual banquet and fund raiser at Augusta Country Club. For information on attending and joining Quail Unlimited, contact Bob Grahl at (706) 650-3085.
