Fishing Tournaments

Fax number: (706) 823-3408. Tournament reports must include first and last names of the participants, total numbers of fish and total weight of the catch.

Howard Storey, five bass, 5.5 pounds. Steve Foust, two bass, 5.1 pounds. Gene Tant, five bass, 4.9 pounds. Big fish: Foust, 4.35 pounds. Twelve fishermen caught 30 bass weighing 37.3 pounds and all but two were released alive.

2005 Schedule: Aug. 21, bass tournament, daylight until 2 p.m. Sept. 11, bass tournament, daylight until 2 p.m. Sept. 24, Kids' Fishing Derby, 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Claypits II and III. Sept. 25, Take a Soldier Fishing, 7 a.m., to 2 p.m. Oct. 23, bass tournament, daylight until 2 p.m. Nov. 13, bass tournament, daylight until 2 p.m. December: No tournaments scheduled.

Tournaments will be limited to the first 20 boats and are open to all ID cardholders and the public with a Fort Gordon fishing license guest permit. Entry fee is $10 per Fort Gordon Sportsman Club member, $20 per non-member, with an optional $5 big fish pot, with a guaranteed $100 for first place and $50 for second place. Registration is with the club prior to the tournament or 30 minutes before the event's start. State licenses and Fort Gordon fishing permits required.
