Georgia Open: Conley has lead for Monday finish

BRASELTON, Ga. - Second round leader Tim Conley of Braselton built a three-shot lead Sunday over third-round leader Dave Schreyer of Peachtree City before the rain-plagued final round of The Community PhoneBook Georgia Open was put on hold until Monday.

Conley had a 15-under-par total at The Legends at Chateau Elan course in the final round that went through a six-hour rain suspension just before noon when the leaders had played only two holes.

Conley started two shots behind Schreyer and birdied the second just before the rain arrived. When play resumed, Conley birdied the par-3 third to tie for the lead.

Schreyer had bogeys on four and six while Conley rolled in a long birdie putt on six to complete a five shot swing over the first six holes.

Both Conley and Schreyer have birdie putts on the par-3 12th when play resumes at 8:00 a.m. Monday.

Ned Micheals of Atlanta is in third place at 9-under after finishing out on 12. Chunk Pinkard of Cumming held Low Amateur honors after round three, but struggled after the rain delay and stands at 5-over after 13 holes.

The clubhouse leader is David Potts of Tucker at 3-over 291. The Low Amateur in the house is 1988 Georgia Open Champion Dewitt Weaver III of Suwanee at 5-over 293.
