GreenJackets falter in extra-inning loss

In Charleston, S.C., Marcos Vechionacci drove home Tim Battle in the bottom of the 10th inning, giving the Charleston RiverDogs a 4-3 win over the Augusta GreenJackets.

Battle led off the 10th with a single, but was nearly picked off first when pitcher Adam Gardner threw to Jason Columbus. Battle raced toward second as Columbus' throw went into left field, pushing Battle to third.

Augusta (17-18) scored three times in the sixth inning to take a 3-1 lead. Jon Armitage had a two-RBI single, and Carlos Sosa also scored on the play thanks to an error on pitcher Jeff Marquez.

The series' third game is set for 7:05 tonight, with Darren Sack (5-5) taking the mound for Augusta against Phil Coke (6-6).
