Mrs. Edna R. Packer (MARTINEZ, Ga.)



MARTINEZ, Ga. - Mrs. Edna R. Packer, 47, of Martinez, entered into rest July 30, 2005 at her residence. She was the beloved wife of Michael Ray Packer. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2005, 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mark United Methodist Church with Reverend Gerald Varner officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. A native of Savannah, Edna was the daughter of the late Harry Carter Riley and the late Peggy Jean Cook. She was raised in Barnwell, S.C. and a graduate of Barnwell High School. Mrs. Packer was a former employee of Club Car and a member of Saint Mark United Methodist Church. Additional survivors include three sons, John Frederick Arant, IV and his wife, Amanda, of Augusta, Michael William Packer and Nathan Phillip Packer, both of Grovetown; two sisters, Patricia R. Masters and her husband, Wayne, of Martinez, and Vicky R. Sorrell and her husband, Gene, of Barnwell, S.C.; and three grandchildren, John Frederick "Quint" Arant, V, Riley Olivia Arant, and Abigail Patricia Arant, all of Augusta. Her brother, Harry Michael Riley, preceded her in death. Pallbearers will be Michael Packer, Nathan Packer, Chuck Green, Mike Burch, Brian Bush and Steve Packer. The family will receive friends Monday, August 1, 2005 from 4:30 until 8:30 p.m. at Platt's Funeral Home, Evans. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro Road, Augusta, GA 30904.
