MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Mrs. Sara Alethia Hatcher left this life behind and entered into rest, Thursday, June 30, 2005 at Oconee Regional Medical Center. Life's burdens have ceased and she now knows nothing but sweet eternal peace. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 6, 2005 at 11:30 a.m. from Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 1036 Daniel Street, Augusta, with Reverend Dr. Bobby L. Truitt officiating. Interment will be in Southview Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, July 5, 2005 from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Hatcher was a faithful member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church until she succumbed to illness. She was a pioneer in the field of education. This love and thirst for learning led her to her life's profession. She worked tirelessly in her kindergarten. Her devotion to promoting academic excellence allowed her to touch many lives in her community. She was preceded in death by he r beloved husband of 32 years, Mr. James Franklin Hatcher, Sr. She leaves to mourn her passing, a devoted and loving son, Dr. James Franklin Hatcher, Jr., Milledgeville; a loving sister, Mrs. Ella House, Milledgeville; two loving granddaughters, Sara Ophelia and Beah June Hatcher; caring nieces, Mmes. Doris (John) Goodwin, Irmo, S.C. and Mary Williams, Columbia, S.C.; cherished nephews, Messrs. Johnny Vaughn, New York, N.Y., William (W. Frazier) Davis, Sr., Columbia, S.C., Martin Vaughn, Philadelphia, Pa., and Vincent Vaughn, Warren, Ohio; a goddaughter, Mrs. Fredericka Tolbert, New York, N.Y.; and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
