Drainage poses a danger

Recently, there have been serious problems for storm water drainage in Columbia County, in particularly at the West Lake subdivision.

The drain pipe under the West Lake Drive was severely damaged, and leaking from it caused erosion of soil under the main road in the subdivision. This led to the caving in of the road. This can lead to serious accidents. There are several such drain pipes that are old and need urgent repair.

Not only are the drain pipes disintegrating, but the upstream construction is leading to soil deposits and unsightly pollution of historic Bowens Pond. The Furys Ferry Road expansion project has worsened the problem.

It has been going on despite communication of this problem to Columbia County officials. This beautiful pond in Columbia County is now seriously being replaced by soil, and may not be there very long.
