AIKEN, S.C. - Margaret Hemstreet McManus, 76, wife of the late Eugene F. McManus, MD, entered into rest at her residence on Friday, July 1, 2005. Mrs. McManus was born in New Orleans, La. to Harold William and Margaret Hart Hemstreet. She graduated from Mt. Carmel Academy and attended Loyola University in New Orleans. She had been a resident of Aiken for the past 39 years, and was a member of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church and the Aiken County Medical Association Auxiliary. Mrs. McManus was a devoted wife, loving mother, and doting grandmother. She will be remembered for her incredible strength and courage. She is survived by her children, son, Eugene F. McManus, Jr. and his wife, Ann Marie, of Augusta; daughters, Margaret M. McManus of North Augusta, Catherine M. Bedenbaugh and her husband, Stuart, of North Augusta; grandchildren, Maureen, Mac, Caroline, Catherine, and Cecilia McManus of Augusta, Thomas and Colleen Bedenbaugh of North Augu sta; brothers, Harold W. Hemstreet, Jr. of Dallas, TX, James M. Hemstreet, of New Orleans, La., Joseph D. Hemstreet of Houma, La., and Jeffery H. Hemstreet of Dallas, TX. She was preceded in death by her brother, Gerald R. Hemstreet of New Orleans. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church with The Reverend C. Alexander McDonald, celebrant. Final prayers and commendations will follow in Calvary Cemetery. A prayer vigil and rosary will be held Monday at 5:00 p.m. at Shellhouse Funeral Home.
