Mr. James F. Drennan, Jr. (GRANITEVILLE, S.C.)

GRANITEVILLE, S.C. - Entered into rest on Friday, July 1, 2005, Mr. James F. Drennan, Jr., beloved husband of Mrs. Lucille Hurst Drennan of 981 Ergle St. Ext., Graniteville. Surviving with his wife is a daughter, Grace Drennan Miller, North Augusta; his sons, Jimmy Drennan, West Columbia, Dennis Drennan, Lexington; a sister, Marie Bradle, Ilion, N.Y.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was the son of the late James F. Sr., and Marie Rose Wriglets Drennan and was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth "Kenny" Drennan. Mr. Drennan was born in Wayne County, Mich. He was a 1952 graduate of the University of South Carolina and was a member of the USC Alumni Association. He was a veteran of WW II having served in the United States Army. He was a sergeant with the 4th Infantry Division where he was involved with the D-Day invasion of Normandy. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star with five battle stars. He was a ch arter member of the Carolina's Chapter of the 4th Infantry Division Association. He was a member of the Warrenville American Legion Post #77. He was retired from E.I. DuPont with 33 years of service working at locations all along the East Coast. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church with Father John Lawlor celebrant. Final Prayers and Commendations will follow in Graniteville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be L.C. Smith, Jr., Herbie Hurst, Terry Earnest, Reed Miller, and Shawn McCarthy. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. A Christian Wake service will be held Sunday, at 6:30 p.m., visitation will follow from 7-9 p.m. at Hatcher Funeral Home, U.S. Hwy.
