For those people concerned about the apparent waste of taxpayer funds in the Augusta Commission delegation's upcoming participation in the Hawaii conference, I have the following suggestion: I recommend The Augusta Chronicle send two investigative reporters to attend the conference and to report on Augusta's representatives' activities there.
I believe it would be good for all to see how hard commission members work at such conferences to bring back and apply useful learnings. I suggest the comprehensive talents of Sylvia Cooper and Kate Lewis be applied to this mission. I believe they would provide a fair account of what the Augusta group does there, and provide information on the worth of such ventures to the city's taxpayers.
