The editorial "Amnesty's lies" (June 7) is right on the mark.
The majority of American people see this and all of the leftist propaganda in this country for what it is: noise. The truth doesn't matter to the left. If it makes our president, our military and our country in general look bad to the world, they are for it. Whether whining about judges who rule in the spirit of the Constitution, or fighting for the rights of terrorists, they are virtually on the wrong side of every important issue we face as a nation.
Enemy combatants at Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib - who by the way, would jump at the chance to behead, burn and hang your charred body from a bridge, be you left or right (they don't discriminate) - are being treated humanely and then some. No country goes to the extent the United States does in the treatment of its enemy combatants. We have all seen what the terrorists do to our soldiers and civilians.
Of course, this is not enough for the left. They want to afford these scum the rights of the Geneva Convention. Well, let the doves talk Osama Bin Laden into signing and abiding by the Geneva Conventions, and then we can discuss it.
Thank God that we have a leader in President Bush, who stood up after 9-11 with the brave men and women of our armed forces; who understand the threat we're facing as a nation; and are aggressively doing something about it.
That dovelike cooing noise you're hearing from the left is just that: noise. They'll never get it. But the hawks? Yes, they get it.
