Mr. Boyce A. Helms (NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C.)

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. - Memorial services for Mr. Boyce A. Helms, 90, of Merriweather Drive, North Augusta, who died May 23, 2005, will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the St. John United Methodist Church. Rev. Renea D. Slater officiating. Mr. Helms was a native of Mount Holly, N.C., having made North Augusta his home for the past 38 years. He attended school in the Charlotte area, Wofford College, and was a 1936 graduate of Brevard College. He retired from the North America Philips Corporation with 43 years of service as a Salesman and Engineer with the X-Ray division in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. A member of St. John United Methodist Church, Mr. Helms was a former member of the Administrative Board, Sunday School Teacher, Treasurer, Auditor and a member of the John Minter Sunday School Class and Methodist Men's Club. He was a member of the Acacia Masonic Lodge #315 AFM, Augusta Scottish Rite and Golden Glo Chapter #76 Ord er of the Eastern Star. Mr. Helms was a former member of the North Augusta Exchange Club, the Toastmasters and the father of the late Randy Clark Helms. Survivors include his beloved wife, Charlene Laursen Helms; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ned A. and Sara Helms, Wilmington, N.C. and Larry A. and Pam Helms, Martinez, Ga.; four grandchildren, Amy H. McCrickard, Michael T. Helms, Clark A. Helms and Frances D. Helms; four great-grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Acacia Masonic Lodge #315 AFM, Golden Glo Chapter #76 Order of the Eastern Star and the John Minter Sunday School Class. The family will receive friends at the church following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Bereavement Fund or Endowment Fund of St. John United Methodist Church, P.O.
