Mr. George Halford (AIKEN, S.C.)



AIKEN, S.C. - George Burton Halford, age 80, entered into eternal rest at 5:35 p.m., Monday, May 23, 2005 at Aiken Regional Medical Center, ICU. He passed peacefully from heart/lung complications. Born on February 18, 1925, Mr. Halford was a retired Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy for 23 years. He went on to have a second career in cabinmaking and woodworking, his hobby. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dolly; one daughter, Bonnie Welder; one grandson, Wesley Walton; a sister, Mrs. Tootsie Bishop; a brother, Joe Halford; and numerous nieces and nephews. His wish for his body to be donated for research to MCG has been honored, and a memorial service to celebrate his life and service to his country will be held Monday, at 1 p.m., Memorial Day, at the Johnston Presbyterian Church.
