HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY (PG) Sitting through the long-awaited film version of Douglas Adams' beloved book calls to mind another recent ambitious effort: last year's I (Heart) Huckabees. Both have eclectic ensemble casts. Both mix complicated concepts with goofy physical comedy. Both have the courage to be just completely out there. Hitchhiker's Guide just feels like an onslaught of too much stuff - all at the expense of character development and plot. Big Mo, ends today at Evans, Augusta Exchange

ICE PRINCESS (HHH, G) The folks at Walt Disney figure there's an exact formula to the princess tale: Take one goody-goody teenage outsider, hand her an impossible dream come true, add water (frozen, in this case) and a nasty rival or two, then sit back and count the ticket admissions. Augusta Village, ends today at Masters

KICKING & SCREAMING (PG) Can Will Ferrell stand up to Robert Duvall? Mr. Ferrell plays a doofus son; Mr. Duvall is his cantankerous pop. They coach rival little-league soccer teams. Augusta Exchange, Aiken, and Evans
