EVANS, Ga. - Mrs. Virginia Murphy O'Brien, 84, of Evans, wife of the late Donald J. O'Brien, entered into rest Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at Portsbridge Hospice in Augusta. A wake will be held at Washington Commons on Thursday, May 26, 2005 at 4:30 p.m. There will be a memorial service Friday, May 27, 2005 at 6 p.m. to be held at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church with Father Bob Cushing officiating. Mrs. O'Brien was one of 12 children and 1st generation born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to Daniel Murphy and Mary Farish Murphy. She was a devoted member of her church, saying her rosary daily. She loved crafts, and sewing was her favorite. Mrs. O'Brien doted on her family, friends, and her toy poodle "Licorice" and always remembered everyone's birthday. She has loved living at Washington Commons and had many friends. She received loving care from her nieces and nephews, Teresa O'Brien Logan, Pamela O'Brien Boyd, Dennis O'Brien, Susan O'Brie n McCumbers, and Beth O'Brien Broderick, and also her dear friends, Marla Logan, Jim and Mary McCurdy, and many others. She was a joy to all who knew her. Additional survivors include one son, Michael O'Brien, Brooklyn Park, Minn.; Patricia Castley, Staten Island, N.Y.; two brothers, Robert Murphy, Jacksonville, Fla., and Daniel Murphy, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Teresa of Avila Building Fund, 117 Pleasant Home Rd., Martinez, GA 30907, or to one's favorite charity.
