KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Brooks Brown scattered five hits and one run over 6 1-3 innings as Georgia won its season finale against Tennessee 4-1 on Sunday.
Tennessee (39-17, 18-11 Southeastern Conference) advances to the conference tournament that begins Wednesday, while the Bulldogs (30-25, 12-17) did not qualify and are not likely to receive a postseason bid.
Brown (4-2) gave up his lone run in the first. The Bulldogs' Jason Jacobs got the first of his two RBIs in the third on a single. Kyle Keen's RBI double in the fifth gave Georgia a 2-1 lead, and the Bulldogs got two more in the seventh off a single by Jacobs and a fielder's choice by Bobby Felmy.
Will Startup relieved Brown in the seventh, and finished his sixth save this season.
Tennessee starter James Adkins (7-4) took the loss.
