MARTINEZ, Ga. - Colonel Woodrow W. Parker, age 87, died Tuesday May 17, 2005 at University Hospital. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday May 21, 2005 at 11:30 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church 4303 Wheeler Rd. Martinez, Ga., with Rev. Larry Gilpin officiating. A luncheon and reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery with Military Honors. Colonel. Parker served 31 years as an officer in the U.S. Army Infantry. He participated in the European Campaign in WW II. After the war he was stationed in Germany, Taiwan, Korea, Iran, and the Congo. He was also assigned to the Pentagon, strike command at McDill Air Force Base, Tampa, Fla., as well as other stateside duty stations. Colonel Parker was an active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by one son, Major Woodrow W. Parker, II. He is survived by his wife, Mary P. Parker of Mar tinez; one daughter, Zanne Jefferies and her husband, Dick, of Lexington, Ky.; one sister, Evelyn Hurst of Atlanta; two grandsons, Stepfan P. Jefferies and Ian N. Jefferies and their wives, Cathy and Sara; one great-grandson, Parker L. Jefferies; and nine nieces and nephews.
