Recently, my family and I paid a visit to the new James Brown statue. I was puzzled about the location. I thought it should have been placed on Augusta Common on a pedestal.
I think Augusta Common is the proper place to honor Mr. Brown. I think the median on Broad Street is not the proper place to honor a man who has done so much to put Augusta on the map. ...
I'm proud that James Brown is finally being honored, but if you are going to do it in a mediocre way, why do it at all? Augusta and Augustans deserve better. We deserve the best. Why settle for a halfhearted effort for someone who has done so much for so many?
