Judge led charge for major change

As a concerned and proud American citizen, I want to thank Judge Duncan Wheale for achieving the badly needed changes in the management of cases handled by the Augusta Judicial Circuit. Thanks also to The Augusta Chronicle for the editorial that focused attention and presented a clear explanation of the issues ("Huge change for Augusta," May 12).

I do not know Judge Wheale, but heard him speak at the Martin Luther King Celebration/Memorial Service held at First Baptist Church earlier this year. I was impressed by his wit, his words, his character and his ability to assimilate Dr. King's legacy in a way that related to all Americans.

I am thankful for dedicated public officials and citizens who persevere to produce change for the good of all.
