Partridge Inn opens kitchen to best chefs

Six Southern chefs will take part in The Partridge Inn's third annual Best Chefs of the South series beginning Wednesday.

The series offers participants a chance to sample the culinary works of some of the best chefs in the South, including four James Beard Featured Chefs.

Each month, a visiting chef will prepare a four-course meal of signature dishes from his restaurant. The menu will be accompanied with wine pairings and hors d'oeuvres prepared by The Partridge Inn's executive chef, Philippe Chin.

The dinners cost $69 a person and series tickets are $375.

The chef schedule is as follows:

Gary Mennie, of Taurus in Atlanta, Wednesday; J. Keith Morrison, of The Greystone Inn in Lake Toxaway, N.C., June 9; Frank Lee, of Slightly North of Broad (Maverick Southern Kitchens) in Charleston, S.C., July 21; Derek Morgan, of D. Morgan's in Cartersville, Ga., Aug. 18; Christopher Nason, of Sapphire Grill in Savannah, Ga., Sept. 15; and Pierce Culliton, of Frank's in Pawleys Island, S.C., Oct. 20.
