ATLANTA - Tyler Greene hit a grand slam and two singles and Matt Wieters added a three-run homer to lead Georgia Tech to a sweep of a three-game series with an 11-1 victory over Virginia Tech on Sunday.
The Yellow Jackets (37-14, 21-6 Atlantic Coast Conference) clinched at least a tie for second place in the ACC regular season race, reducing their magic number to two over Miami with three games to play.
Tech starter Ryan Turner (6-2) allowed one run on seven hits with five strikeouts before leaving with two outs in the seventh inning. Tech pitchers allowed only three runs in 24 innings in the series, outscoring the Hokies (20-26, 5-18) 48-3.
Virginia Tech starter Jake Chaney (5-4) surrendered eight runs on five hits with five walkes in 4 2/3 innings.
Greene's grand slam in the fifth inning was his 11th homer of the year and Wieters' three-run shot in the eighth was his eight homer.
